HOW YOU’VE HELPED!

Above: Your donations to Second Harvest went directly to survivors on the ground in the hardest hit areas of Japan.

The “Comics For Japan” donation drive was a great success for the relief agencies we helped to promote. With 36 webcomic features participating in the event helping to spread the word about Second Harvest Japan and Red Cross, we were able to make an impact on the ground, for the survivors of the Earthquake and Tsunami who needed it the most! To all those who participated and help promote this effort, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!

While it’s hard to estimate how much money we actually helped raise, here is some data that was collected along with reports back to us.

  • We raised around $1500 in monetary donations and or actual supplies and food for Second Harvest Japan. Collectively we’ve heard from 14 readers who sent actual supplies via the mail that included food items and blankets. (if you sent items, please report to us!) All told we sent over 11,312 unique visitors through our Second Harvest link. To see where your dollars and supplies are going, check out the great Second Harvest Blog.
  • For the Red Cross, there’s no way of tracking how much money we helped donate, but we did send a bunch of traffic through our links, 16,588 unique visitors through our links.
  • That’s 27,900 unique readers who visited these agencies through our effort. Great job everyone!

IT’S NOT OVER!!!

While the mainstream media have moved on to other big stories, the survivors in Japan still could use our help! We encourage your ongoing support to SECOND HARVEST JAPAN as they move into phase 2 of their relief efforts! Everyday they are delivering boxes of food and supplies to the people who have no homes or livelihood, and who aren’t likely to have any for the foreseeable future. Follow along with the progress in the Second Harvest relief report blog, and make a donation!

COMIC CREATORS!!! You can still do your part by reminding your readers that this effort goes on beyond the 24 hour news cycle! Share the links above every once in awhile with your readers. Whether you have an audience of 10 people or 100,000 we really have a great advantage and power to getting the word out to more people, and it has helped make an impact! THANK YOU!
